We’re a family of five here in Louisiana, with a house full of kids, cats, and plenty of noise and laughter. Devon Rex aren’t just a hobby for us—they’re part of our everyday life. We live with them, love them, and raise our kittens right in the middle of our home, not out in a separate building.

The kids are a big part of what we do. They help with everything from sitting up late with bottle babies when needed, to riding along to cat shows and proudly showing off “their” cats. We’ve had many weekends where the car is packed with kids, cats, show stuff, snacks, and lots of coffee, and we just hit the road together. The children brush, carry, and cuddle the cats constantly, and they are so proud when someone compliments one of our Devons.

Because our kittens grow up in the middle of all this love, chaos, and family life, they leave here used to being handled, carried around, talked to, and involved in whatever is going on. We feel like that makes a real difference in their personalities—they’re confident, social, and very people-focused, which is exactly what we love about the Devon Rex breed.

Who We Are

• We’re a homeschooling family, and our cats are just part of everyday life here. Think story time with a kid on each side and a cat in every lap, and kittens randomly showing up in the background of all our pictures.

• I really believe that when kittens grow up in the middle of normal family life—with kids, noise, and a busy house—they turn into confident, social cats.

• From the time they open their eyes, our kittens are handled, played with, carried around, and just included in whatever we’re doing, so when they leave us, they’re ready to slide right into their new home.

How Our Kittens Grow Up

We raise all of our Devon Rex kittens right in our home. No cages, no separate building out back—just a regular family house where they’re part of everyday life.

• With four kids, there’s always something going on. Toys rolling across the floor, kids laughing, doors opening and closing, someone always talking or singing. Our kittens grow up in the middle of all that, so they learn to take things in stride and are comfortable with children, visitors, and other pets.

• By the time a kitten leaves us, they’re used to normal household noise and routine—the TV, vacuum, kids running down the hall, even a random living room dance party.

• Our kittens are truly socialized: they’re held, carried around, talked to, dressed up by the kids, and included in whatever we’re doing. We feel like that helps them grow into confident, affectionate, people-focused Devon Rex who are ready to walk into your home and act like they’ve always belonged there.

At Darling Devons, we combine our love for the breed with very high standards.

• We don’t just look at pretty faces and nice pedigrees when choosing our breeding cats. Personality matters just as much. We want cats that are sweet, outgoing, and easy to live with in a normal family home.

• Health is always the top priority. All of our queens and studs are genetically tested, and our kittens leave us healthy, vet-checked, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and ready to settle into their new families.

• We feed quality food, give our kittens safe, fun places to explore, and handle them every day. Each kitten is raised like the special little companion they’re going to be for someone.

• They have that adorable pixie look, big ears, huge eyes, and soft, wavy coats — but what we love most is their goofy, loving, clownish little hearts behind all that cuteness.
